School of Culture and Communication is one of the longest history academic units in Jiujiang University, which was reassembled by three departments in 2004, has 99 full-time faculty including 5 professors, 40 associate professors. Ten teachers have been to Southeast Asia countries to teach Chinese and train oversea Chinese language teacher.The school has such programs as Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language, Chinese, Advertising, Chinese Education, Cinematic Multimedia Technology, Advertising, Advertisement Design, News Editing and Execution.

With the advantages of famous local culture resources, the school made great achievements in culture research, and set up the Lushan Mountain Culture Research Center as an important social science research base of Jiangxi province, and Bailu Academy Culture Research Center, Tao Yuanming Research Center as well.

文学与传媒学院由九江师范高等专科学校中文系、九江教育学院中文系、九江财经高等专科学校文化传播系于2004年合并组建而成。学院现有教职工99人，其中教授5人，副教授近40人。学院下设办公室、教务科、学生科、团委、实验室等5个科室和文学、汉语国际教育、广告学、广播电视编导、播音与主持艺术、大学语文、国学等7个教研室；开设汉语言文学、汉语国际教育、广告学、广播电视编导、播音与主持艺术、戏剧影视文学等6个本科专业；语文教育、广告设计与制作、新闻采编与制作等3个专科专业。有10名教师先后前往柬埔寨，菲律宾，泰国从事对外汉语教学和汉语师资培训工作。

文学与传媒学院充分利用地域文化优势，打造文化品牌。设有“白鹿洞书院文化研究所”，“陶渊明研究所”和“中国九江国际龙狮文化研究中心”等研究机构。“庐山文化研究中心”是江西省人文社科重点研究基地。
